Independence policy

v1.0 · May 21, 2026

Money Sleuth covers where Portland-area public money goes. That job only works if you can trust that nothing is bought. Here is what we will and will not do.

No political donations

Money Sleuth does not accept money from candidates, campaigns, political action committees, or parties. We cover how public money moves; we take none of it.

No endorsements

We do not endorse candidates or ballot measures. We report what the figures show and label our take clearly. Who you vote for is your call, not ours.

No paid advocacy

No one can pay to place a story, soften a story, or kill one. We run no sponsored content dressed as reporting. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

Real-name bylines

Every issue carries a real-name byline and a named editor. We name public officials acting in their public capacity; we do not name private individuals.

This policy is dated and versioned in git. When it changes, the version and date above change with it, and the prior version stays in the repository history.
